Amazon Wants Your Badfinger Book
Yes, that's right. The huge Internet bookseller wants to buy your used "Without You: The Tragic Story of Badfinger." Consumers are so hungry for this now-rare and valuable book that Amazon is offering $56.36 for your dog-eared copies so it can satisfy its customers with the resale.
Unheard of? Probably not. I haven't researched what Amazon is doing in cases of other out-of-print books with high demand, but this particular biography is going for $120.00 used, and $290.00 new (assuming a "new" copy can even be found).
What is particularly ironic is that this comes on the heels of the release of Joey's biography, "Badfinger and Beyond", which sells for less brand new on Amazon than what the retailer wants to pay for your beat-up, used "Without You" copy. I guess this goes to show that both consumers and retailers know value when they see it, as well as fodder.

I just updated the prices in this article because Amazon has changed their numbers. They went from offering $39 as a gift card, to now $56 in cash for the copies. They also upgraded the price of a "new" copy from $271 to $290 in value.
Update again... Now used copies are listed at $120.00, up from $86.00. Demand appears to be going up every week.
Hmmmmm...I wonder how many they are selling at $290??
They claim to have one "new" copy, although I don't know how it can be considered "new".
I've noticed that Amazon's rebate has dropped way down in price for used copies because they have bought several now.
